Chiostro del Carmine
Chiostro del Carmine is placed in the higher hill of the medieval, historical center of Siena, one of the first city became worldwide UNESCO’s heritage, this city is both famous for the fascinating horses race Il Palio, that take place in the gorgeous Piazza del Campo twice In summer, 2nd July and 16th August , and for its architectonic beauty, its glorius history, the artistic masterpieces as Duccio di Buoninsegna's Maestà, or Simone Martini’s works, the Pinacoteca, one of the richest case of Medieval art, and finally the stunning Duomo.
Siena boasts other important interesting things as the University, the ancient Hospital, turned into the museum “Santa Maria della Scala”, the Chigiana musical academy, and the base and heart of bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the most famous and ancient bank, active from 1472. From Chiostro del Carmine is possible to move by foot all around the historical centre, inside the city wall, enjoying stunning view from the hidden alley, stopping by the typical food shop and tasting a glass of wine or the Tuscan dishes sitting outside one of the many “osterie”... paying always attention to some sound of drum’s echo from the backstreets, or to the rastle of the handmade silk flags that wave in the sky...
The city is the ideal starting point for those who travel with car, motorbike and bicycle (and for who loves trekking!) to visit all the most famous area of Tuscany around Siena: from north to south, so different and so beautiful. In the south area we suggest to visit Val d’Orcia, full of panoramic streets that lead to Buonconvento, San Quirico d’Orcia, Pienza (a little architectural treasure) and Montepulciano and Montalcino, Brunello wine’s home, up to Monte Amiata's top.
Going direction north, to Firenze, is possible to cross the famous Chianti shire, stopping by the lovely Monteriggioni, and San Gimignano, the one hundred towers city. Chiostro del Carmine’s Staff will be glad to help and suggest our guests with all the information about Siena, Tuscany and other tours.
